Queenie McKenzie

Queenie McKenzie passed away in 1998 at the age of 85.
She was considered one of the most important female Aboriginal artists in Australia.

Gloria Petyarre

Gloria is the best known living Aboriginal artist from Utopia - one of the foremost communities in the contemporary Aboriginal art movement.

The paintings of Gloria Petyarre are distinctive for their bright colours and the high degree of abstraction in her work.

Artist: Fiona Foley

Fiona Foley is the best-known contemporary Aboriginal artist. She has an international reputation.

Fiona lives in Hervey Bay, about 300 km north of Brisbane close to Fraser Island, the traditional home of her people, the Badtjala.

Artist: Boiyool Michael Anning

Boiyool is an Aboriginal Rainforest artist with a deep knowledge of the unique culture of his Ydinji people from North Queensland.
In 1998, he won the Wandjuk Marika Award for Sculpture at the15th Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards(Museums and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory). Boiyool is the first Queensland Aboriginal artist to receive an award at this most prestigious event.
