Australian Aboriginal and Contemporary Art Specialists

 
Located in an old church in the leafy Brisbane suburb of Gordon Park, Redback Art Gallery specialises in the exhibition, sale and valuation of art work from leading Australian Aboriginal artists and selected contemporary artists. 

Since opening its doors in 1989, Redback has developed links with many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and has held some remarkable exhibitions including solo exhibitions from Aboriginal artists such as: the very well known Emily Kngwarreye; Maningridaís John Mawurndjul; Papunya artist Joseph Jurra Tjapaltjarri and the famous Queenie McKenzie from Turkey Creek.

Contemporary artists such as leading ceramic artist Marc Sauvage, rising star on the Australian art scene, Simon Mee, innovative Sydney jeweller Robyn Gordon, and Ian Howard, currently director of the College of Fine Art in Sydney also show with Redback.

 
 

The Redback Consultancy Service

Redback is well known for itís objective consultancy service for corporate and private collectors and is registered to value a range of art (including Aboriginal Art) under the Commonwealth Governmentís Cultural Gifts Programme.

The managing director of Redback is the Queensland Chair of the Australian Commercial Galleries Association (ACGA) and sits on the national Board of that body. The ACGA is the peak industry body in the visual arts and among other activities runs the biannual Australian Contemporary Art Fair. 

He is also a member of the Advisory committee for the Academy of the Arts, Queensland University of Technology. 

How to get to Redback Gallery
Redback is easy to find, just six kilometres from Brisbane's Central Business District and close to the international and domestic airports.

Noon to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and other times by appointment.
